Just saw the first episode. What a time warp! I wont give the plot away – suffice to say the bulk of the story is set in 1973 and features a treasure trove of period British cars. I even noticed a red Vitesse parked on the street. The producers must have scoured every car club in London!
Highly recommended, if only for the ‘spot the car’ porn.

Glen the connection is admittedly pure guesswork on my part. Maybe lots of people think they need expensive valve work to keep them running on unleaded? All I can say is that the number of saloons on the road here has dropped considerably in the least year or so.
Of course they are getting old so maybe those that are just driven and not…[Read more]

In Adelaide saloons started getting rare when leaded petrol was phased out recently. Before that there are quite a few rusty old bangers – mostly 2000/2500TC Mk 2 autos in brown or light green – trundling around. They have mostly disappeared. Nice PIs and S’s, especially in more unusual colours, are obviously being garaged and only come out on…[Read more]

Update of the update.
I might add that scouring the net has revealed that ‘P19’ (rather than my P18) is a genuine Triumph white from 1971 onwards!
The plot thickens

Update! I dont know why I didn’t mention this before. My PI still has the original paint sticker near the radiator! Its a Dulux acrylic enamel, the colour just says ‘white’.
So it appears from reading around this site its most likely that these Dulux colours are Toyota colours?
What presumably I need then, is a list of Dulux colours that…[Read more]

Okay, this AMI stuff is very interesting. There’s nothing much on the net.
My plate (2500/1970) says ‘P18’ for colour. The car is white – but the puzzle has always been – WHAT white? If this is a Toyota colour, exactly what white is it?

Hey Glen
I have Monroe gassies too – while they seem to attract a fair bit of flack I’ve been very happy with them and agree on their effect on the ride.

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if any Dolomites were sold in Australia with factory air-conditioning, and if so what model (1850 HL presumably)? If they were what sort of instillation was it – an under dash job presumably. Ive seen factory air on saloons, but not Dollys.
Cheers

paisley replied to the topic Mk1 saloon 2-tone paint? in the forum Vehicle Help 8 years, 8 months ago
Hi all,
I occasionally come across photos of mk 1 saloons with two tone paint – often they have a white roof but Ive seen a few with what seems to be a black roof (its hard to tell as these are often B&W photos).
Were these original factory options? If so was the black roof paint or vinyl?
I ask this because Ive been offered a tired but…[Read more]
