Hi Glen, yes, its been a while! Not much really new, but a recent engine rebuild to tighten it up a bit, and the fitment of an electric water pump, to help keep the temps down. It was a pretty straightforward fit up, and it works well, especially when controlling heatsoak after switch off. I will post a few pics, and also of the stuff you…[Read more]

    • Thanks Stuart. Running a Davies Craig EWP on my Stag. It failed at about the 2 year mark. I got another one though. Lovely things but there are rumours about them failing if not used frequently as water apparently bypasses the seals and ruins the motor.

    • Great to see you back Stuart. Anything new done with your car? It’d be great to see a few more details about the roller rockers and the brakes in your galleries. You can edit them now to have descriptions. Let me know if you need any help or tips as the site has changed a lot.

  • Hi Smirf,
In a nutshell, by fitting a good extractor exhaust system to any engine, you are helping it remove spent gases far more quickly, and with much less restriction than a factory system. this means that when the engine is refilling the cylinder with a fresh mixture of air and fuel, there is much less of the nasty already burned mixture in…[Read more]

  • I agree with Glen. May not make much difference without a few head and carb mods, but really, you cant lose in any case. and the sound will be improved!

  • i have a Repco, and it has been fine so far with a few ponies going through it. i have heard of problems with these clutches though.

  • Thanks Matt!
The car is pretty modified, check out the cars specs on the website, to much to type at work! To give you an idea what a standard 2500 pulls on a dyno, the recent day we had with the TCCV had standard ones at about 80 hp at the wheels, with a good PI and TR6 anywhere from 86 to 102 hp at the wheels.
The car is pretty good fun, will…[Read more]

Hope this works ok , took me ages! Gotta love a screaming small capacity six!

  • sounds VERY similar to my car. Gee what a great sound. Should be a ringtone…

  • I run a single 2 inch from the collectors back, and a couple of straight through Lukeys and it seems to work well. Sounds awesome if a little loud. Have reasonable power on the, maybe this works in this engine because of the standard bore and small carbs? The note is very raspy above 5500.

Auto trans fluid works well in the gearbox. I have had it in mine for a few years now with no problems (yet)

  • Stuart replied to the topic oil pressure warning light in the forum Vehicle Help 2 years ago

not sure about the losing power bit or the heating up, but when warm these engines do seem to drop oil pressure at idle. I think from memory the trigger point for the light is 7 psi which is not much. Would be worth having it checked out though. With the modern thinner oils, I would be happy to see idle pressure at about 15 psi when hot, mine uses…[Read more]

  • my car is an early model MkII and the quill housing is lower ( I think) than later models, and from memory this allowed the whole assembly to come down with the jack. Yeah, the car was up on stands, about 2.5 feet off the ground. That front seal is a bugger, but I am lucky, mine does not leak, but it is the only one on the entire car that works…[Read more]

  • You should not need to pull the entire arse out of the car, if the car is up on blocks, a jack placed under the diff, and the rear diff mounts bolts are removed, the entire rear end will come down enough to withdraw the diff on its own. then you just need to support the whole assembly in position until you put the diff back in. maybe i am wrong,…[Read more]

  • SUPERB looking car! you just need to buggerise around with the mechanicals a bit more and it will be the perfect car. I thought i was the only one who liked Saffron Trumpys!

Took advantage of the good exchange rate and got a set of the GoodParts Roller rockers. Fitting them and dynoing this weekend! Got them mainly for reliability, but any extra ponies will be welcome…
