MODIFICATIONS, CONVERSIONS, HISTORY
Purchased in 1980, off the road from 1981 until 2005, this 1966 Triumph TR4A was restored from 2000 to 2005 and originally sported royal blue paint [code 56]. The roadster received its new brilliant blue paint after a full frame-on restoration from 2000 to 2005. Prior to its long slumber, the engine was rebuilt in the 80s to original specs with 62,800 miles on the odometer.
Instead of its original TR4A seats, the car sports high back 1970-72 TR6 seats. Equipped with a modern smaller racing steering wheel, a beige Sonnedecke cloth fabric EZ-ON convertible top, a black sunfast Robbins tonneau and a burled English walnut dash, the car has a few aesthetic upgrades, but is otherwise very stock mechanically. In July 2007, we installed a TRF+ magic clutch combo, clutch master/slave, and a console-mounted Healey overdrive switch for the car's Laycock de Normanville electronic-assisted overdrive.**
I run Vredestein Sprint+ or Vredestein Sprint Classics on my British cars and modern Vreds on all my non-British drivers.
** Captain Edgar de Normanville's Laycock overdrive units were fitted to many British marques such as: Aston Martin, Bristol, Jaguar, Healey, Triumph and Rolls Royce and non-British marques like: Ferrari and Volvo cars among others - see http://tinyurl.com/d2pdtx. To see Quantum Mechanics' overdrive guru John Esposito working on a Ferrari GTE250's Laycock overdrive - you might enjoy, www.tomyang.net/cars/ferrari651.htm
