Very original car purchased for restoration and modification as a
TRIUMPH TR7 SPRINT FIXED HEAD COUPE
Possibly the best TR7 Sprint in Australia.
It was lovingly restored from bare metal over a three year period, from May 2005 – April 2008, and has covered only 2,600 kilometres since on Club runs.
Every bolt and nut was removed cleaned or replaced; the motor and gearbox were also rebuilt.
It is fitted with a Dolomite Sprint single overhead cam 1998 cc 2.0 litre, 16 valve motor.
It has been re-done as close as possible to an original TR7 Sprint and has the appropriate factory handbook, parts and workshop manuals.
It is striped as an American Victory model. Approximately 200 Sprints were built although it is thought only 25 were released for sale.
The others were crushed by Leyland after production ceased in 1981.
Originally this car was built at Speke in England during May 1978. It was one of the last fixed head coupes produced there as the factory was shut down by British Leyland on the 26th of May.
Consequently very few TR7 cars were produced in 1978.
This is a truly remarkable vehicle with engineering that was about 15 – 20 years ahead of its time.
The car is currently on Club Registration and this is not transferable.
Fitted to the car currently are MG F 16” wheels.
