This very rare Australian factory built 1967 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible has had a 1974/75 Californian MG Midget 1500cc engine fitted to it over the last 3 years by a previous owner. I am having fitting at present a set of twin SU carbies as the single carbie that was in it previously gave me some trouble and I wanted a little more power. It has a full set of the Australian chrome bumpers fitted to it which are about to be re-chromed. I have added Vitesse wooden door mouldings just for a little more class and a chrome bullt style door mirror. I have also fitted a set of Dolomite Sprint wheels with whitewall tyres and a wooden MotaLita steering wheel as the original was way too thin and coming off in my hands!
Things I want to do:
1/I would like to fit a more comfortable set of front seats – any ideas anyone? – and once that is done have the interior change to red with a full set of red carpets.
2/ I would like to upgrade the gearbox to o/drive or 5 speed resourcing the gearbox from Australia – any ideas anyone?
3/I will get the car stripped back to metal and resprayed in it’s original colour with the optional black stripe along the side and all the chrome re-done
I AM ALSO LOOKING FOR ANY HISTORY ON THIS CAR AS I BOUGHT IT FROM PERTH, W.A. AND HAD IT SHIPPED TO SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA lAST YEAR WITH NO HISTORY AT ALL!. IN PERTH IT’S REGO PLATES WERE 9CE 301. CAN ANYONE HELP?
