This is a ’73 Spitfire with a 6 cyl. built on a GT6 frame. I’ve just purchased the car, so I’m in the process of seeing what it needs to get on the road, and then will think about a full restoration. It runs great and is very quick! The engine block is from a TR6, the bonnet from a GT6+ and the tub a Spitfire 1500. I owned a ’75 Spitfire a few years back and it was great except for the lack of power. Power shouldn’t be a problem with this car.
It’s a year since I bought the Spit6 and I had several summer months to enjoy it. Most mechanicals have been rebuilt and some body work started. It needs a few adjustments to the front suspension and steering, but it is a real blast to drive! I don’t think I’ve driven a faster Triumph.
